July's Artist of the Month: David Kagan
David started assisting in 2000 and styling on his own in 2002. He is originally from Southern New Jersey but currently resides on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
David has always considered himself an artist and his aesthetic eye and sculptural abilities have translated well into styling – shaping fabrics, color & texture selection and still life arrangements. He infuses his unique vision into his work wherever possible. David’s talents range from loose and edgy, editorial, through to a more traditional catalog look.
Some of David’s clients have included:
J Crew, Lands’ End, Old Navy, Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Tahari, Aeropostale, Liz Claiborne, Victoria’s Secret, Pink, Polo Ralph Lauren, Polo Jeans, Sears, Kmart, Cache, Brooks Brothers, Coach, NY & Co., Macy’s, Tory Birch, Vineyard Vines, Spiegel, Haines, Jala, New York Magazine, Bauer Publishing (Life & Style, In Touch, Woman’s World), InStyle Magazine, Vogue, Elle, Men’s Health and People Style Watch to name a few.
David is also a multimedia performance artist who uses pop cultural formats to explore issues of identity and iconography. He is the recipient of a 2011 Art Matters grant that funds a collaborative musical project in Ghana. David received his MFA from the Hunter College Department of Art and holds a BFA in film production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
David has been with the Marnie Rose Agency since 2007. His talents and eye for style and detail continue to impress those who are lucky enough to enjoy his work.
