July's Artist of the Month: David Kagan

David started assisting in 2000 and styling on his own in 2002. He is originally from Southern New Jersey but currently resides on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

David has always considered himself an artist and his aesthetic eye and sculptural abilities have translated well into styling – shaping fabrics, color & texture selection and still life arrangements. He infuses his unique vision into his work wherever possible.  David’s talents range from loose and edgy, editorial, through to a more traditional catalog look.

Some of David’s clients have included:
J Crew, Lands’ End, Old Navy, Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Tahari, Aeropostale, Liz Claiborne, Victoria’s Secret, Pink, Polo Ralph Lauren, Polo Jeans, Sears, Kmart, Cache, Brooks Brothers, Coach, NY & Co., Macy’s, Tory Birch, Vineyard Vines, Spiegel, Haines, Jala, New York Magazine, Bauer Publishing (Life & Style, In Touch, Woman’s World), InStyle Magazine, Vogue, Elle, Men’s Health and People Style Watch to name a few.

David is also a multimedia performance artist who uses pop cultural formats to explore issues of identity and iconography.  He is the recipient of a 2011 Art Matters grant that funds a collaborative musical project in Ghana.  David received his MFA from the Hunter College Department of Art and holds a BFA in film production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

David has been with the Marnie Rose Agency since 2007.  His talents and eye for style and detail continue to impress those who are lucky enough to enjoy his work.

WELCOME MATHEW DEMEK!

Mathew is the newest member of our team and we would like to welcome him to the agency!

Mathew is a photo industry professional who began working in commercial photography in 2000 at Industria Superstudio. It was at Industria that he learned the "ins and outs" of the business by working with the top names in fashion and advertising. He had the privilege of working along side Richard Avedon. Avedon inspired him to make a career for himself in commercial photography.

Over the last 10 years, Mathew has learned many different facets of the business from his days as a PA at Marek and Associates to the four years he spent in studio bookings at Milk. Along the way, he has learned the value of hard work, a positive attitude, and has developed a strong commitment to excellence.

Mathew brings all of these experiences to MRA, and looks forward to starting a new chapter in his journey through the world of commercial photography.

June's Artist of the Month: Kate McCann

After graduating from college with a fine arts degree, Kate McCann received a job as a fashion design assistant. While enjoying fashion design, she found herself drawn to the work of the photography and creative departments and transferred into this area as an editor and producer. While on location, Kate began to style the still life shots. Doing this work made her realize that she would like to concentrate on soft goods styling. She then took an opportunity to work at J.Crew as a full time soft goods stylist. After spending over four years at J.Crew, Kate took a position at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. For the past eight years, Kate has been freelancing and enjoys the diversity that freelance work brings.

Like many of us in this business, Kate is an avid reader of fashion, shelter, and art magazines. Kate's other interests include movies, art exhibits and wandering around flea markets.
